In brief: LoveQR is a Swiss sole proprietorship established in Bex, in the canton of Vaud, founded and run by Adrien Gisclon. The project grew out of a simple observation after Covid: digital tools had pulled people away from the places where they live. LoveQR is funded by a single subscription, shows no advertising and resells no data. No investors, no ad network, no model built on attention.
The company
LoveQR is operated as a sole proprietorship by Adrien Gisclon, in Bex, canton of Vaud, Switzerland. The main site is loveqr.social. Application data is hosted in the European Union, in Germany, and the service falls under the European GDPR and the Swiss nFADP. The full address and the mandatory disclosures appear on the legal notice page.
Why LoveQR exists
The project was born after Covid. During the lockdowns, everyone learned to live at a distance from their own neighbourhood, and many never really came back: we know our neighbours less, we go out less, we meet fewer people by chance. The existing social networks do not repair that, because they are built around a feed and an algorithm rather than around a place. LoveQR started from the opposite question: what is happening here, now, around me?
What came before
Before LoveQR, the same founder released a retro profile generator used by around 200,000 people. The idea of sharing by QR code came out of that experience: people wanted to show something of themselves to someone standing in front of them, without handing over their phone number.
The concept of LoveQR was registered on September 9, 2024, with Datasure (Copyright.eu) under prior-art certificate no. 9810, by Adrien Gisclon. The title registered at the time, "Rencontres par cryptogramme visuels" (Encounters by visual cryptograms), reflects the initial formulation of the project; LoveQR has since become a local social network of which the encounter space is only one part.
How LoveQR makes money
A single subscription, LoveQR Premium, at 27 CHF every three months, 9 CHF a month in monthly-equivalent terms. It opens the Intime space and the intimate layer of augmented reality. Alongside it sits LoveQR Pro, the offer aimed at businesses and venues. Everything else — public profiles, augmented reality, place pages, check-ins, posts, messaging, widgets — is free. No advertising, no ad tracking, no reselling of data. The model is a deliberate choice and it has one direct consequence: LoveQR has no interest in keeping you on the screen.
The five products
LoveQR Simply You is the product: a local social network in augmented reality. LoveQR Friendship is the free plan, with public profiles and the public layer of augmented reality. LoveQR Premium is the subscription that opens the Intime space and its layer. LoveQR Pro is the offer for businesses and venues. LoveQR Widgets brings together the free integrations for any website.
What is promised, and what is not
Promised: no background GPS tracking, a location you can blur to neighbourhood scale, local caches encrypted with AES-256, minimal collection, no advertising and no reselling. Not promised: messaging is encrypted but not end-to-end, and a QR code can be copied for as long as it is active — it guarantees neither the identity of the person in front of you nor the safety of a meeting. No service can promise absolute security, and LoveQR would rather say so.
